Android Twitter Client Poll

Print Friendly

Just before leaving for SxSWi, I bought myself a new mobile phone: An HTC Hero. I love virtually all of the phone. It is taking a bit to get used to the new options and new abilities, but it works.

The one thing on the phone that wasn’t working for me? Peep – HTC’s Twitter client. I didn’t have time to grab a different client before I left, so I was stuck using either the mobile client or Peep (when it worked) to do my tweeting. PAIN in the arse. For real.

On my desktop and laptop, I use TweetDeck. I have used CoTweet for business accounts as well (and will again), but most of the time it is TweetDeck. I love it. BUT, it isn’t on the Android yet. (Please, TweetDeck, get it there as soon as possible.)

Yesterday, I tweeted and Facebooked:

I didn’t put out my specific needs, because I wanted to hear from the world what they thought. My requirements?

  • Easy to use
  • Don’t hang my phone
  • Handles multiple accounts
  • Let me do everything (or close to it) that TweetDeck does.

The results kind of startled me: An almost perfect split between Twidroid and Seesmic. And I mean within one vote.

The Twidroid folks all seemed to be using the free version. Since it doesn’t do multiple accounts, I went with Seesmic. If I don’t like it, I may spring for the $5 and get Twidroid.

What I really want: TweetDeck on my Droid. What about you?

    Hi there,
Glad to hear you’re hoping for TweetDeck on your Hero. Just a heads-up that our Android client is well on its way and is looking very neat indeed so far :)

I think you’re going to love it. Keep an eye on my Twitter stream for more news over the next few weeks…
